Uber Freight CEO Lior Ron leaves to join self-driving startup Waabi as COO
Self-driving truck startup Waabi has tapped Uber Freight CEO Lior Ron as COO to scale commercial operations before rolling out driverless trucks on public highways later this year. Ron, who co-founded Otto and grew Uber Freight to $5 billion in revenue, will lead go-to-market strategy and partnership expansion. Rebecca Tinucci, formerly Tesla’s charging network lead, takes over as Uber Freight head. Waabi, backed by $287.7 million, aims for a Texas launch and leverages its AI-first simulator for efficient testing and validation.
