OpenAI Acquires Alex Codes Team to Bolster Codex, Retiring Xcode AI Tool on Oct. 1
OpenAI has hired the small team behind Alex Codes — a YC-backed tool that brought AI models into Apple’s Xcode — to join its Codex division. Alex Codes will stop being downloadable after Oct. 1 but will be maintained without new features. The move is one of several recent acqui-hires as OpenAI beefs up its AI coding capabilities.
