18 Arrested at Microsoft’s Redmond Campus Amid ‘No Azure for Apartheid’ Protests

On the second day of “No Azure for Apartheid” protests at Microsoft’s Redmond campus, activists set up a “Liberated Zone,” poured red paint on signage, and allegedly blocked a pedestrian bridge. Redmond police arrested 18 people—including current engineer Anna Hattle and former employees Hossam Nasr and Vaniya Agrawal—accusing some protesters of aggressive behavior. The group opposes Microsoft’s cloud contracts with Israel and has repeatedly disrupted company events over alleged Azure use in military surveillance. Microsoft says it’s conducting an independent review of the claims.
